As I was saying last week, "Praise God by raising the poor." carrying on the same theme this week between rich and poor, the rich man and Lazarus. Let's be clear, money is good and can help a million situations. But, I think Jesus is referring to the fact that love of money can sometimes blind us to the needs of others. 

Today's gospel is difficult to understand, but taken with the first reading Jesus is literally on the side of the poor. When the Son of Man comes in his glory and all the angels with him, he will sit on his throne in heavenly glory.

Feast of the Exaltation of the Cross. I have said it before and I will say it again. Every home/house should have a crucifix in the living room. Pride of place for all to see. But more importantly for the residents to see, especially children.

I believe 99% of the population are good people. But, yet the state of the world is not very good. Poverty, war, pain, suffering, isolation (OF THINKING) etc. Today's readings Jesus is trying to move us on to something greater. Hating our parents etc. Forget it. He is trying to get us to look beyond family, kinship, tribalism, nationalism etc...
